Rachel
by Nicholas Rombes
DAY 1
Another 60+ hour night. So black even Rachel’s flares can’t cut through it. Growls from mine closer, clearer. Drones disguised as birds in flocks again.
DAY 2
No daylight yet. Boring.
DAY 3
Still no daylight. Growling now outside of mine.
DAY 4
Daylight nil. A hundred+ drones with glowing wings landed in trees.
DAY 5
… . -. -.. / …. . .-.. .–.
DAY 6
Morse code reader dead. Send another. STOP. If can’t send another send word you can’t send another. STOP. If can’t send word you can’t send another send word of that. STOP. If can’t send word you can’t send word you can’t send another send word of that. STOP. If can’t send word you can’t send word you can’t send word you can’t send another send word of that. STOP.
DAY 7
Send daylight. STOP.
